INITIAL RUN OF MYTY KONKEROR'S DEBUT LP TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT...MORE ON THE WAY

Photo by Petter SevaldsenThanks to this stellar review in OMGVinyl the other day, we got slammed with orders for MYTY KONKEROR's "I miss the future.", selling out of our limited run of clear, lathe-cut discs. Orders came in from all over North America, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Greece, and the UK. But we were able to meet all orders by extending this initial run with 30 more. Lathe-master Peter King has agreed to rush this second batch to us with only a 3-week turnaround. All but 10 of these are already spoken for, so go grab one from the MK store

TWIN LAKES CO-FOUNDER CO-HOSTS COLLEGE RADIO SHOW ON WESU

Yesterday evening Twin Lakes co-founder and MYTY KONKEROR drummer Michael Kiefer co-hosted DJ Rob DeRosa's "Homegrown," a WESU program dedicated to artists from the Nutmeg State. In addition to a new cut off of MYTY KONKEROR's recently released debut LP "I miss the future.", Kiefer premiered pre-release songs from The Mountain Movers, Ultrabunny, Old Man Lady Luck, and Iron Hand, as well as tracks from Titles and the Suicide Dolls. MYTY KONKEROR RELEASES THEIR FIRST FULL-LENGTH

It's been long overdue, but MYTY KONKEROR's first full-length, I miss the future. is now available from Twin Lakes. Recorded between June 2008 and February 2010, this record marks a departure from the band's earlier stripped-down sound as they've embrace a more expansive approach with the addition of lap steel guitarist Jon Schlesinger. The result is a Copernican meditation in the form of blow yr head off rock, sludge oozing from the sonic scrap metal this band is known for.

Eschewing principles of mass-production, the band contacted New Zealand's Peter King, who uses his own custom-modified lathes to cut the records to what is actually a clear, kind of polycarbonate plastic. We chose to do a limited run of 30 this way because we wanted the album to stay as close to human hands as possible throughout the entire making of it.

You can order it on CD or vinyl here. The album can also be downloaded from iTunes, eMusic, or the Twin Lakes online store. Cassettes will also be available soon.

Here's an early review that appeared in CTIndie this morning.

TWIN LAKES' ROSTER EXPANDS

We are pleased to announce that Melbourne, Australia's Electric Jellyfish has joined the Twin Lakes alliance for the release of their new self-titled EP. This is their second release, not including the 2009 Dogman Hill Blues split EP with Atlanta's Pony Bones, which they put out on their own Spectacular Commodity imprint. Their 2008 EP The Woods was recorded entirely analogue by Head Gap studios in Melbourne, Australia, and pressed to cassette by the Thurston Moore/Byron Coley collaborative label Ecstatic Yod. The band has toured both Australia and the US extensively since 2007.

2010 finds the Jellyfish on their third US tour in support of their first Twin Lakes release, which can be had for free as a digital download for a limited time only at the Twin Lakes online store. Visit the band's myspace page for a complete list of tour dates.

CLOSELY WATCHED TRAINS' DEBUT PICKED AS THE BEST LOCAL ALBUM OF YEAR

The New Haven Register picked Closely Watched Trains' self-titled debut as their favorite local album of 2009, calling it "an amazing blend of ebullient folk and rock...a killer disc that features many songs perfect for a Wes Anderson film." Read the full story here. Considering all the local artists that released stuff this year, we are honored. Check out the album on our Store page.

CWT is already working on new material and will begin recording soon.

CLOSELY WATCHED TRAINS CD RELEASE PARTY, OCTOBER 10TH

CWT sticker

On Saturday, October 10th Twin Lakes Records will be hosting a CD release party at Café Nine in New Haven to celebrate the release of Closely Watched Trains' eponymous debut album. We're really psyched about this, not only because we love the record, but because this is also the label's first long-player.

With this record, CWT has managed to breathe new life into multiple genres at once with sonic explorations that are organic, orchestral, and raw.  The result is a sound familiar yet impossible to define…an aural landscape, pastoral and surreal, that beckons and is easy to get lost in.

The full bill is pretty dope too.  Brooklyn’s critically-acclaimed Soft Black will be there, local post-punkers Swarm the Moon will be rattling some skulls, and Kryssi Battalene from Heaven People will be conjuring out-of-this-world noisescapes from her bowed acoustic guitar and various electronic inventions under her solo project moniker Colorguard.  Doors open at 8pm.
